What is a Veterinary X-Ray System?

A veterinary X-ray system is a digital radiography solution for small animal and equine practices. It delivers precise images for fast and accurate diagnosis, streamlines clinical workflows, and ensures high-quality care in modern veterinary medicine.

Types of Veterinary Imaging Systems

1. Digital X-ray (DR)

Digital X-ray (DR) systems provide fast, high-resolution imaging for small and large animals. With advanced detectors and immediate image access, DR systems help veterinarians make accurate diagnoses efficiently. Integrated with dicomPACS® and ORCA® Cloud, these solutions optimize workflow in every veterinary clinic.

2. Computed Radiography (CR)

Computed Radiography (CR) offers a flexible bridge from traditional X-ray to fully digital imaging. CR systems capture images from standard X-ray cassettes and deliver excellent quality for a variety of veterinary applications. They are ideal for clinics upgrading from analog systems while maintaining smooth integration with digital record systems.

3. Mobile & Portable X-ray Systems

Our mobile and portable X-ray systems bring diagnostic imaging directly to your patients. Designed for fieldwork, large animals, or clinics with space constraints, these lightweight, durable systems provide professional-quality images wherever you need them.

4. Dental X-ray Systems

Dental X-ray systems are essential for small animal oral care. With high-resolution imaging of teeth, jaws, and oral structures, veterinarians can plan treatments, monitor progress, and document results efficiently. All dental images are fully compatible with PACS for seamless record-keeping.

5. Ultrasound Systems (Mobile & Stationary)

Ultrasound systems support real-time imaging for soft tissue, cardiac, and abdominal diagnostics. Both mobile and stationary solutions are available, offering intuitive controls, high-resolution images, and flexible probes suitable for pets, farm animals, and exotic species.

Integrated Veterinary Imaging Software (PACS)

dicomPACS®vet is the central hub for veterinary imaging, connecting X-ray, DR, CR, ultrasound, and CT systems. This veterinary PACS software stores all images and documents digitally, enabling fast access, streamlined workflow, and secure archiving. Modular, customizable, and AI-supported, it helps veterinary practices manage imaging efficiently while keeping patient records paperless.

How to Choose the Right Veterinary X-Ray System

Selecting the right veterinary X-ray system depends on your practice type, mobility needs, budget, and clinical use cases.

Small Animal Practices: Stationary X-ray tables, dental X-ray systems, and mobile ultrasound units are ideal. Systems with fast image acquisition and intuitive workflow are essential for high patient throughput.
Equine Practices: Portable DR systems like the Leonardo DR or mobile X-ray generators such as Amadeo P provide flexibility on the field. Dental systems work for both small and large animals.
Mobility Needs: Choose mobile or portable systems if you perform on-site imaging, large animal diagnostics, or need flexible setup in the clinic.
Budget Considerations: OR Technology offers solutions for all budgets, from compact stationary tables to advanced portable DR units. Modular and scalable systems help you invest efficiently.
Clinical Use Cases: Consider the types of procedures you perform most frequently. Fast image availability, ease of operation, and seamless integration with PACS software ensure optimized workflow and better patient care.

Impressions that count – your opinion, our success

OR Technology has been delivering innovative digital imaging solutions for veterinary practices for more than 30 years – from DR and dental systems to ultrasound and PACS software tailored for veterinarians and animal clinics.

A complete X-ray system that is easy to handle and equipped with good software to produce high-resolution images. This is how I discovered the complete solution Amadeo V-DR mini II.

Very good image quality and easy handling of the X-ray system were important to me. In addition, a straightforward connection to our practice management software Vetera should be possible, and the PACS system should also be usable for other imaging modalities, particularly computed tomography and ultrasound.

The DR system impresses with fast, mobile deployments, excellent image quality and an optimised workflow – compact, practical and always ready for use.

The portable solution offers everything my colleagues and I need for an error-free and fast workflow. Thanks to the wireless detector, there are no more annoying cables, and the case is lightweight and easy to handle.

The portable digital X-ray solution Leonardo DR mini from OR Technology has become an indispensable companion in my daily work.

The intuitive operation via the touchscreen monitor convinced us from the very beginning. We can control the entire X-ray system through it. The functions are clearly structured and easy to use. The simple distribution of X-ray images via email to colleagues was another important criterion for us. Last but not least, the excellent price-performance ratio of the system convinced us immediately.

In addition to the significant improvement in workflow and the high-quality X-ray images, what convinced us most was the system’s compatibility with our practice management software.

From our perspective, the Medici DR system is a professional radiography solution that helps us in our daily work to obtain clear findings quickly for necessary follow-up treatments.

Compared to analog technology, the new digital Medici system significantly shortens image acquisition time. We are highly satisfied with the dicomPACS®DX-R acquisition software, which is very intuitive to use. It is extremely simple to plan and perform an X-ray examination.

The user-friendliness of the system with its intuitive operation, the very high-quality X-ray images and the compatibility with our practice management software were the main reasons for our purchase. In addition, the TTA measurement function with different template sizes convinced us. This tool greatly helps us in planning our TTA treatments, for which we are very well known in this region.

We can only repeat that we are very satisfied with the investment and the changeover. The software offers a reporting module based on Word that allows targeted reporting on individual images and the direct assignment of these reports to the patient. These reports can be customized according to individual requirements. This has significantly improved both internal and external documentation.
