9. Facebook plug-in
Our site uses plug-ins of the social network Facebook operated by Facebook Inc. („Facebook“), 1601 S. California Ave, Palo Alto, CA 94304, USA . The plug-in on our site is designed as an “f”, “Like” and/or “Share” in white letters on a blue background. The look of social plug-ins of Facebook can be found at: http://developers.facebook.com/plugins.
If you visit a page of our site that contains such a plug-in, your browser directly connects with the Facebook servers. Facebook transmits the plug-in content to your browser integrating it into the site. By integrating the plug-in Facebook will be informed that you accessed the corresponding page of our site even if you do not have a Facebook account or if you are not logged in to Facebook. 10. Facebook Marketing Services
In keeping with our justified interest in the analysing, optimising and an economical operation of our website, we use what is referred to as the “Facebook pixel“ from the social network Facebook, this being operated by Facebook Inc., 1 Hacker Way, Menlo Park, CA 94025, USA, or Facebook Ireland Ltd., 4 Grand Canal Square, Grand Canal Harbour, Dublin 2, Ireland, should you be located in the EU.
Facebook is certified pursuant to the Privacy Shield Framework, this providing a guarantee that European data protection regulations are adhered to.
On the one hand, the Facebook pixel enables Facebook to determine those who use our website as a target group for the presentation of advertisements (known as "Facebook ads"). We therefore only use the Facebook pixel in order to present Facebook ads to Facebook users that have shown an interest when using our website or that have certain features (e.g. an interest in certain themes or products that are determined on the basis of the visited website pages), we then notifying Facebook accordingly (known as “Custom Audiences“) and on the other, we wish to use the Facebook pixel in order to ensure that our Facebook ads meet the potential interest of the user so that they do not have an annoying effect. We are also able to use the Facebook pixel in order to determine the effectiveness of the Facebook ads for statistical and market research purposes, in that we can determine whether the user was forwarded to our website after they had clicked on a Facebook ad (known as a “Conversion“).
The Facebook pixel is embedded by Facebook immediately after our website has been accessed, it then saves a cookie on your device. Should you then log onto Facebook or access the Facebook site when you are already logged on, the accessing of our website is noted in your profile. Your personal data that are obtained are anonymous as far as we are concerned, so that we are unable to draw any conclusions regarding the identity of the user. The data are stored and processed by Facebook however so that it is possible for a connection to be made to the corresponding user profile, enabling such to be used by Facebook for its own market research and advertising purposes. Should we send Facebook data for reconciliation purposes, these are locally encrypted in the browser before they are sent to Facebook via a secure https connection. This has the sole purpose of conducting a reconciliation with the data that are also encrypted by Facebook.
We also use the add-on function “extended reconciliation“ in connection with the use of the Facebook pixel. In this case, data are encrypted before they are sent to Facebook for the purpose of creating target groups (”Custom Audiences“ or ”Look Alike Audiences“).
You can contradict the recording by the Facebook pixel and the use of your data for the presentation of Facebook ads. You can also determine the types of advertisements that are presented to you on the Facebook website, by accessing the page that you set up on Facebook and then adhering to the instructions in connection with the settings for user-based advertising. The settings are stipulated platform-independent (desktop or mobile).
