Chief Internist Dr Dirk Neidhardt about digital X-ray with dicomPACS®:
"In order to improve our day to day workflow and cost efficiency at our hospital, we decided to digitise two of our wards. Some of the doctors had serious doubts, due to bad experiences with IT networks incorporating image generating equipment.

After making long and thorough comparisons between the various systems in the course
of a public tender process, we decided on dicomPACS® by the medical systems firm OR Technology. Their quote not only suited our budget, but the firm's many years of experience also convinced us that in OR Technology we had found the ideal partners for implementing this big project.

The installation of the IT system and integration of all modalities (such as endoscopy etc.) took a mere three days. All computers had been configured and tested before delivery, and only needed to be set up and connected at our premises.

The installation was followed by three days of familiarisation under the guidance of OR Technology. We got to know the very simple, application oriented operation of the system while the hospital was running and enjoyed the security of knowing that there was help immediately at hand in case of any trouble."

Details of the hospital network
OR Technology was awarded the contract for the full digitalisation of two wards in Bad Aibling Hospital through a public tender process.

The internal medicine and surgery wards were completely networked and digital image processing and archiving were introduced.

During the tender process, the hospital’s project managers became convinced of the service capability of the PACS system. Additional points in favour for OR Technology were the simple user friendly operation of dicomPACS® as well as the highly attractive price/performance ratio.

The new image processing network includes a FUJI FCR XG1, a Philips Diagnost DL, an ultrasound scanner and an endoscope. The integrated high resolution 21" TFT b/w monitors (resolution of 2,048 x 1,536) guarantee optimal conditions for diagnosis, as required by the Medical Products Act. A laser imager and a laser colour printer are available to print images on film and paper.

OR Technology created a new interface for the smooth integration of digital image data with patient data from the clinic system of Henning & Schlosser. This interface proved itself immediately in daily use.

A practical solution has also been found for diagnostic documentation. Image data is stored together with the text in dicomPACS® and is available immediately after an image has been called up. The router handles all image communications with doctors’ practices and other medical institutions. The router handles all image communications with medical practices and other medical institutions. The incorporation of a beamer into the clinic network offers an excellent way of discussing X-ray images.
